Twenty things ~ 2013 list

It is time for my list of goals for 2013. Heather says…

 Lists are living, breathing, always-changing reminders of things that you don't want to forget about... things that are important to you.

and I couldn't agree more!

Here is the list of some things I would like to get accomplished in 2013.

• Time with God ~ prayer journal
• memorize 100 Bible verses
• run – 5K, 10K, 1/2 marathon (with sister Allie)
• re-learn my theory (Phoenix) by end of May
• read through my booklist
• stop denying self
• speedbuild to 100wpm by Dec.31, 2013
• paint master bedroom, master bath, girls bath, entryway
• take more pictures
• print those pictures monthly for albums
• mail Christmas cards by Dec. 5th!
• make checkbook registers for the girls
• monthly  dinner/movie date with the Lt.
• join church service group
• go on 4 field trips by the end of the school year
• stop pulling hair back daily
• get healthy
• de-clutter-donate more “stuff”
• DisneyWorld ???
• have a professional family picture taken

I have never been one for resolutions. While I do have my list of things I would like to accomplish for the year that is not my real focus. In the past few years I have been focusing on One Word to define my year. In 2012/2011 I chose the word LOVE, that was a combination of 4 different words:

simpLify

grOw

serVe

lEarn

I am ready to move on from this selection and begin to focus on something else. Have you heard of One Word 365? The concept of One Word 365 is to choose

One word that sums up who you want to be or how you want to live. One word that you can focus on every day, all year long.

It will take intentionality and commitment, but if you let it, your word will shape you and your year. It will guide your decisions and help you grow.

This year My Word is

Moxie (n):

The ability to face difficulty with spirit and courage, Skill; know-how, fortitude and determination

Grace (n):

A disposition to be generous or helpful; goodwill, seemingly effortless beauty or charm of movement, form, or proportion.

I chose this word for my focus for this year because I am embarking on a journey to finish my court reporting school. It will take a lot of Moxie ~ Grace for me to put my plans into action but I am up for the challenge. Also, this is a big year for us as we will be faced with many changes with the Lt.’s job selection and whether or not we will be able to stay in our current location. To me this is a strong, tangible, action word that I will go into more depth on within the coming weeks as I start to put my goals into action.

100 Bible verses in 2013, week 1

This year the girls and I are teaming up with over 270 people to memorize the 100 Bible Verses Everyone Should Know by Heart by Robert J. Morgan. For the next 50 weeks we will memorize 2 verses each week.  I am up for the challenge and so are the girls. How about you?There is still time to sign up and the book  only costs $10.19 for paperback or $2.99 for the Kindle edition on Amazon. But don’t let the price of the book stop you! The sweet lady hosting, Shanna, has made up a list of the versus in a Word document for both King James Version and New King James Version.

Week 1’s verses are familiar to most, especially if your children were ever in AWANA.

Favorite photo{s} of 2012

How could I possibly pick just one photo to be my favorite of 2012? I can’t so I have narrowed it down to 5.

Spring Break ~ Myrtle Beach, SC

 

We had such a great time on our first visit to South Carolina! We traveled to the beach for a cheer competition for Marie. It was great to explore the town and visit all the attractions.

 

Strawberry picking

 

I have always wanted to go strawberry picking. We did for the first time this year at the local farm near our house. The girls and I ended up going to the farm 4 times over the course of the strawberry season. The berries were so good and we look forward to the upcoming season and eating more berries!

 

Lt. & Mary Lou

Yes, that is my hubby standing next to THE Mary Lou Retton! Our gymnastic gym hosted the 2012 Junior Olympics Nationals and the Lt. was one of the lucky few to get a picture with Mary Lou. She was there in support of one of her daughters. It was so exciting when he sent this text to my phone. I actually interrupted the girls practice to go and show all the girls who were equally excited.

Happy Father’s Day

 

Father’s Day 2012 was a great celebration for the Lt. and the family. We had a nice relaxing day spent in the pool and he grilled up a delicious meal on his new barbeque grill.

This is my favorite group shot of the girls from their school photo shoot. I love all their smiles and have great memories of what it took to get them all looking in the direction of the camera. I love these girls so much and I am truly blessed to be their mother.
