McKenzie with glasses

The girls are at it again, dressing McKenzie up as their American Girl...I have to say she looks really snazzy in her glasses.

365~050 What's wrong with this picture???

What's wrong with this picture??? McKenzie's new Hotsling came in the mail today, I was a bit too excited to try it out. But low and behold she is still too tiny, err! I have the straps as tight as they will go, but she is not snug as a bug...hmmm, I may have to get creative here. I love holding her but truly do need to use both of my hands sometimes. Montana on the other hand loves it. She would ride in the sling if I let her, all day, every day, but mommy is not that strong to carry around 32 lbs of pure joy.

Back to the drawing board...

365~049 Signs of Spring

If you look really close you can see the little buds sprouting.
Once again I forgot my big camera and had to use my cell. I need to get better at that. I think I will challenge myself with that next week.

365~048 Cookie delivery

What's better than girl scout cookie delivery than having a cute little princess deliver them. The girls are having a blast playing with McKenzie. She loves being around them and part of the action. Madison loves to dress McKenzie up in doll clothes because they fit her so perfectly.

Snow again and a link

It snowed again this morning, the girls were estatic. I should rephrase that, Madison & Mikayla were estatic! They couldn't get there clothes on fast enough let alone eat breakfast. It was not much but enough to play on the trampoline with. They had a great time while the rest of us stayed inside the toasty house. Don't worry Grandma, I stood a the window and stood watch the entire time.
Needless to say the two of them had a great time and Mikayala sure can get some air.

Meanwhile, Kenzie bug was testing out her exersuacer skilz. She is quite the pro at it now, having been at it one whole day. She figured out how to turn herself around and bang on the toys to get the music. The seat engulfs her, but a few blankets stuffed behind her does the trick.

I spent the better part of the day rearranging the office and neglecting the taxes once more. With only four months of daycare to log in I am pretty pleased with the amount we are getting back, just not motivated to do the final numbers and get it off for review. Can you believe that I forgot to get a Social Security number for the baby, SHEESH!!! Well, I did have a lot on my mind as I left the hospital without her. So, I will stop kicking myself for that one and wait...patiently.

I found a new blog this week with one mom's incredible birth story filled with love and hope for things yet to come, check it out and bring some tissue. She does amazing photography too.

365~044 Princess mobile

When I saw this antenna ball at Disney World in Jan. 2007, I knew I had to get it. Our princess crown has graced the rear view mirror of two vehicles since we got it. Mike has gotten a few snide remarks because of the crown, but he takes it in stride. After all, he is all about his girls!

The girls were engrossed in their weekly movie while we waited for Marie to finish her co-op class. We just finished our study of Egypt so the girls watched The Prince of Egypt.

Dermoid cyst

My Kenzie bug is going in for another surgery. This time to remove the bump under her left eyebrow. Turns out it is called a dermoid. The doctor called it a benign tumor, truth be told, he had me at dermoid. Basically it is cells that got trapped under the skin when her skull was fusing together. The doctor said it is a common thing to happen but it has to be removed. Otherwise, when she becomes mobile and bumps or hits it hard enough it could burst underneath the skin and get inflammed. McKenzie must have taken that as her cue, because she started rolling over a few days after the appointment. And of course she is rolling towards the bump.

I got the call yesterday morning with our options for surgery dates. I told the receptionist that I would call her back after I got ahold of my Auntie to see if and when she could come down to watch the girls. How great is that, I am loving living so close to family! I am sure they will keep her busy, especially my Montana who can't wait to see her cousin dog, Sebastian.

Okay, now that I have started babbling, the surgery is a same day surgery and is scheduled at the local Children's Hospital for March 24th. Am I nervous, YES, my tiny baby will be 6 months going in for her 2nd surgery. But God is in control!!! He will protect her and she will be good to go!!!!

Measuring volume

Today Mikayla did a little experiment in math involving volume while Madison and Montana looked and listened in.

First though, they needed to take a trip outside to get the wiggles out and burn some energy off in the snow (that explains the messy hat hair).

Once back inside Mikayla needed to determine which jar would hold the least to most amounts of water and estimate how many cups of water that each different jar would hold. She calculated and wrote her estimates on the white board.

Meanwhile, Montana got in on the action and counted the linking cubes for Mikayla to use later.

Now, for the fun part, measuring water tinted blue. Mikayla filled the measuring cup and poured the water into each jar. Using the different colored linking cube she kept track of the volume each jar could contain.

It was so much fun to see that light bulb go off in her mind when she grasped the concept of measurement. I love that, homeschooling is so much F-U-N!!!
