No Foolin' Around ~ {Giveaway included}

It's April already, yay! This year is flying past us at warp speed. At least it is on our end it is.

April 1st means four things in this house, my birthday (on the 29th), we are officially in our orders window, the Science festival, and TOS is offering a great deal for my readers!

Whohoo, that means we get to stay in our current location until the end of 2019. Marie will graduate from college and Madison from high school and we will, Lord willing, be sending her off to the Air Force Academy that summer to start her training.

The USA Science and Engineering Festival is this month and we finally get to go after 4 years of wanting to attend. We have always had gymnastics or the year I was pregnant with Micah we could attend either. But this year, WE ARE GOING! Madison is so excited, she loves everything space. Its going to be crowded, which makes me nervous, but my Auntie is going to tag along too to give me an extra set of eyes and hands. Can't wait to tell you all about it.

My birthday is at the end of the month, yay! Another year older and wiser, at least I think so

. This year, is special in that Mikayla has the opportunity to compete at a HUGE gymnastics meet on my birthday and the next day I get to take Montana to see The Lion King. We have front row seats and she is over the moon about it. She has been practicing walking in wedge heels for weeks, and she has already picked out her dress. It is going to be a lovely day, I can't wait.

I am knee deep in planning for next school year as we finish out the current one. We are year-around homeschoolers, so the learning never really stops. It is sometimes hard to focus on finishing what we have to do now when all the shiny new catalogs are arriving in the mail. But, we press on and finish strong.

Color–coded homeschool planner {giveaway}

One feature of this planner that I consider handy is that all the students are color-coded. With versions that include 2,3 or 4 students you can easily identify which students work you are inputting in the red, blue, green or yellow sections. Keeping track of grades and lessons for up to six subjects could not be any easier. The planner is economically priced for each student version at $4.99 each.

I have really enjoyed using this planner as I am a paper girl at heart. Printing the planner out was a breeze with the useful included instructions. I chose not to take my printed copy to the office supply store to have it bound, instead I was able to put copies inside of my personal planning binder.

My favorite section in this planner has to be the chore section. With our new family chore system I am able to keep track of the girls daily points easier. I also really like the color-coded features. My only minor complaint would be that because I have more than 4 students I would love to see an option to add more students.

Overall, I feel this is a great product that you should definitely check out if you are looking for a new planner for the upcoming school year. At $4.99 you can’t beat the price, especially for everything it has to offer.

Homeschool Helper ~ a review & giveaway

I have been searching high and low for the perfect planner for our family. With so many options in print or online versions one can get bogged down in choosing. Normally, you can't buy too many quality things for less than $5.00; However, tonight I am telling you you can!

A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to review the Homeschool Helper which is an amazing app created by a homeschooling family. This app lets you track and create lesson plans for an unlimited number of students in up to 14 subjects. Track attendance with the tap of your finger while keeping track of reading lists, subject lists, field trips and more! There is also a handy report card summary that even lists the calculated GPA. I found this especially helpful for computing Marie’s high school grades this school year.

Homeschool Helper includes several lesson planning management features including the the use of bumping lessons to another day / week, copy and paste functions as well as a mass delete option for when things get a little sticky. One of the best features that I enjoy is emailing reports to myself for back up safe keeping. You can also use this feature to print your customized lesson plans.

This app is currently available on iPad from iTunes store, Android Nook and Kindle Fire devices. Your purchase includes free upgrades and tech support for life, YES! With a built in short tutorial you will be up and running this app in no time. I thought that the app was pretty easy to navigate after installation and I was on my way adding classes and tracking attendance within a matter of minutes.

There are so many features to this app that I have only touched the surface with it by using Marie has my test subject. Currently I am in the process of planning out the girls next 6 weeks of "summer" school which starts on Monday with the help of the Homeschool Helper. I would love it if the developers could somehow make this a program for PC's that would somehow communicate with the iPad, but it is easy enough to use and navigate on my iPad that is not a huge deterrent for me. The one time payment of $4.99 will be well spent with this app purchase. You will wonder how you ever got along without the Homeschool Helper.

Scripture Stickies ~ a review & giveaway

This year the older girls and I are focusing on hiding in our hearts 100 scripture verses. So you can imagine my surprise when I received an email from Julie Alvarez creator of Scripture Stickies asking me to write review. Julie has a heart for God’s word and it shows through the products she has created.

Scripture Stickies are stickable Bible verses to help you memorize and meditate on the Word of God. 2011 Spring Curriculum clean out
