Meet my students

Welcome to week 3 of the “Not” Back to Homeschool blog hop! I hope you are having as much fun as I am reading all the blogs. This week is for introducing your students so without further ado here are my students for the 2014 – 2015 school year.

12th Grade

1st day with sign 2014-2015 046

Marie is my hard charging, self-motivated girl who is up and ready to work at 6AM. This is her last year of high school and it is bitter sweet. She is focusing on getting her cheer tumbling skills back this fall/winter so that come spring she can try out for college cheer. Her favorite subjects are math & history.

8th Grade

1st day with sign 2014-2015 034

Madison is my artsy-crafty girl who has a wealth of knowledge, especially when it comes to science. She is on the tennis team with one of the local private Christian schools and enjoys it. You can usually her her with her nose in a book. Her favorite subject is, you guessed it science.

6th Grade

1st day with sign 2014-2015 031

Mikayla, Mikayla, Mikayla what can I say about this young lady. She is all gymnastics all the time. Outside of the gym you can find her playing with her younger siblings and having a good time. She usually always has a smile on her face that can light up the room. Her favorite subjects are lunch and science (seriously, she said lunch, LOL).

2nd Grade

1st day with sign 2014-2015 007

Montana is my sweet little girl who loves everything to do with big cats. Her favorite being the cheetah and not a leopard :-) This is her second season playing softball and she loves to read about big cats and guinea pigs . When she grows up she wants to be a big cat veterinarian. Her favorite subject is science.

Kindergarten {Jr}

1st day with sign 2014-2015 027

While we are choosing to opt McKenzie out of our States school records, McKenzie bug is ready to start her Kindergarten studies. She is an eager learner who excels especially at math. This summer she became a big sister and she is such a great help with Micah. She is also following in Mikayla’s footsteps as a little gymnast.

Gena @ I Choose Joy!

When we were in the midst of planning our PCS across the country I just figured we would enroll the girls into another private Christian school. I quickly found that that would not be the case after researching schools in the area. Tuition was 3x’s what we were paying in WA and we were still keeping our house there at the time. Sure we could have squeezed it and made serious cuts and ate beans and weenies several nights a week, but God had another plan.

I had friends who homeschooled and even my Aunt homeschooled my cousins. I remember staying up until the wee hours of the morning researching curriculum and reading blogs and forums. My friend Elizabeth graciously showed me her Sonlight curriculum and I was hooked.

Homeschooling has afforded our family many opportunities. Opportunities to grow and learn as a family. We didn't start out from the beginning being homeschoolers but I am so glad that God led us on this journey. This year marks our 6th year homeschooling  and we will graduate our first born, Marie, in the spring. While it hasn't always been rainbows and butterflies we are making it work for our families needs and goals. Enjoy your journey and time with your child, as it passes so quickly.

Summer seems to have passed by so quickly this year, espceially since the arrival of little Micah. On August 18th we will dive back into our formal studies.  I have to admit I am ready to get back into the swing of things. I sincerely hope that each one of you has an awesome school year, whether you are a homeschooling family or not. And don’t forget to enter the giveaway for your chance to win over $1300.00 in curriculum and  $250.00 in Paypal money. You can find the link HERE.

We Draw Animals

Do your kids like to draw? Mine do and they are quite creative, which I am sure they get from their dad because all of my drawings consist of stick figures.  Montana is always asking me how to draw this animal or that animal and I am clueless.

Recently, Kathy from We Draw Animals asked me to take a look at the drawing tutorials she has on her site. Wowzers! She has a whole bunch of animals to learn to draw from sharks to dinosaurs to amphibians to big cats, Montana's favorite. Be sure to check out her FREE eBook that you can download. The eBook includes high resolution drawing tutorials to 100 animals that will keep your children busy for some time.

I am so glad Kathy contacted me and shared her work. Now when Montana or one of my other girls says how do you draw  a ---, I will turn to the eBook and website for help. Be sure to get your eBook copy and happy drawing!
