Madison’s square garden
Madison has taken on the responsibility of being the resident gardener. This season we have only had luck growing lettuce, herbs and pumpkins much to our delight. But she is off to a great start!
So far we have 6 pumpkins growing!
We are trying to control and get rid of those pesky beetle bugs so they don’t destroy our crop.
Every morning Madison goes outside before breakfast and looks for bugs and waters the garden and the apple tree. She even made her own special “bug off” stick :)
Good job Madison! I can’t wait until Fall to see the fruits of your labor.

All about the Clean
Have you heard the news? Sarah Mae has a new book out called 31 Days to Clean ~ Having a Martha House the Mary Way. Christin @ Joyful Mothering is hosting this challenge and I am jumping in too, won’t you? I need a jumpstart to get back into routine and I pray this will be the answer, not that I keep a messy house but I do have 5 kids at home *just saying* :-0
Starting May 1st bloggers will be challenged to read this book daily and follow along with it’s challenges. After reading the selected chapters you will have two applications to complete,
the Mary challenge -something you do that encourages/engages your hear.
the Martha challenge – specific cleaning tasks.
Today only Sarah Mae is giving away free copies of the book! Just check out the facebook page or tweet or blog about it and spread the word to receive a free download.

The fruit of our labor
The Lt. and I have completed our new backyard fence and I now totally understand the reasoning behind fencing companies charging $3500+ in labor. It is hard, physical labor!
there were plenty of times when I was sure that my arms would fall off after lifting and carrying the 8 ft panels.
This angle is from the side of the dining/sunroom. All that’s left to do is to apply the stain and finish purchasing the “toys” for the backyard, including a swing set, above ground pool, and the most important a new puppy.

Need your opinion
It’s been a busy day here, I woke up at 3 A.M. with the urge paint. Yes, I know that may sound weird…but I like to paint. I knew I wanted to move these cabinets to this spot yesterday when I was finishing up my cleaning/de-cluttering of the study. It bugged me all night long to think that I would need to take everything out of them, and move them from there spots to this new spot without the wall being painted. Only to have to turn around and take everything out again when I finally did paint the kitchen.
So, I did it, I painted part of the kitchen this morning and I LOVE it. It’s amazing what a little color will do. I only did one section of the kitchen because I knew I wouldn’t be able to devote the full day that it needed. I won’t be up tonight either because I’ve got bigger fish to fry in the paint department, i.e. our school room .
I’ve got big plans for this kitchen. Do you see how pretty the white molding looks against the yellow? Now, picture my cabinets being an off-white color, new sink and faucet, and Ubba Tubba granite counter tops ( I love that name and color, we had this granite in our first house in Oak Harbor). I got my inspiration from Janelle, over at Isabelle & Max Rooms. Oh, a girl can dream right, first I have to run it by the Lt. and get the go-ahead to have them painted white.
So, here’s where you come in, do you think I should paint these cabinets? I am thinking a barn red, black, or green.
whoa! sorry for the blurry picture!
Hmmm, what to do? Would you paint them or leave them?
Chat later!
