Light of Mine Unit Study - Premium ~ a TOS review

Disclaimer: I received a Complimentary copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions I have expressed are my own or those of my family and I pray you, the reader, find them helpful on your homeschooling journey. I am disclosing this in accordance with FTC Regulations.

Morning friends! It’s the end of another week and I am excited to share a book review with you. Towers of Light Christian Resources LLC sent us the Light Of Mine Unit Study Premium to review, let me tell you about it.
We received the Premium resource which includes the Light of Mine paperback book, the Light of Mine Unit Study workbook, the Light of Mine Pathway Personal Player + an USB Flash Drive. The Pathway Personal Player comes with headphones, a cord to hang the player, plus a charger cord. Towers of Light Christian Resources LLC was gracious and send us two copies of the paperback book, workbook, and Pathway Personal Player for my two youngest, McKenzie (7th) and Micah (3rd).
The Light of Mine book tells the story of three siblings, twelve-year-old Lauren and her two little brothers, Aiden and Ethan, who set out to guard the Tower of Light that will help guide both of their parents back home to safety after they disappear. The trio fend for themselves and must learn to decipher who is a helper to them and the Tower or who is there to destroy the Light.

We played the Pathway Personal Player and let it read the story aloud to us. My children were both captured by the story from the first chapter that is narrated by Stacey Bradshaw. One day our Pathway Personal Player’s battery ran out mid-chapter. I quickly found the charger plug and we were all thankful and excited that the story picked up just where it cut off. The paperback workbook is filled with pages that contain memory verses, vocabulary, puzzles and coloring pages, comprehension questions, as well as art and science projects to complete.
Since there are so many activities to choose from over the course of the week there is plenty for your child to learn. You don’t have to do them all but choose from the buffet to your child’s ability and learning style. Both McKenzie and Micah have enjoyed the story and hearing how the children are able to battle darkness as they protect the Tower of Light. We also all enjoyed hearing the joke that that included each day in the workbook.
In this time when our children are faced with many scary situations and difficult choices each day, it’s nice to have access to quality literature to sill them with virtue and truth. While we are not quite finished with this unit study, we have enjoyed it tremendously! I love that we have the Pathway Personal Player to be able to take our story on the road as we drive to and from their sports practices. This story is a welcomed listen instead of listening to the radio.

Be sure to check out this unit study by heading over to the Towers of Light Christian Resources website to purchase your copy today. But don’t just take my word for it! Fourteen of my CrewMates have also reviewed this homeschool unit study. Click on the banner below and read their thoughts too.

Relaxed Homeschool Science from NatureGlo's eScience ~ a TOS review

Disclaimer: I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions I have expressed are my own or those of my family. I am disclosing this in accordance with FTC Regulations.

Hey there! I’m excited to tell you about a Homeschool MathArt program that Montana, my science-loving, artistic daughter has been using. She has loved the idea of reviewing NatureGlo's eScience MathArt & Science Course Bundle from NatureGlo's eScience! Let me tell you a little more about it!

NatureGlo’s eScience was created by Gloria Brooks, an eclectic homeschooler who also is an Unschool Coach and teacher for others wanting to follow that path. Her main goal in her program is to bring to life everyday subject and to give children a love of learning through nature. The courses don’t point to a specific worldview and are very neutral. Through her program children aged 12 and up can learn about a variety of topics through unit studies, electives, or supplemental subjects.

Once logged into the website you will have access to all the courses available. NatureGlo’s eScience is an online subscription that includes access to 31 courses. Each of the courses offers downloadable materials as will as PowerPoint slide shows, engaging videos, and PDF files. With unlimited access your student gets to explore:

~ Exploring The Giant Redwood Trees
~ Bubbleology
~ Geology
~ Herps Explorers
 ~ Herps Zoology
 ~ Introduction to MathArt
~ Invertebrates
~ Marine Biology
 ~ Mammals
~ MathArt
~ Marine Reptiles
~ Marine Zoology
~ Math Connections with the Real World
~ Life and Mathematical Art

I will say that I had a bit of difficulty navigating the website at first. I found it hard to find exactly where I was supposed to log in to get started, but once we figured it out navigation through the program has been easy. Montana, who just turned 14 years old, is the lover of all things big cats so I was especially excited to see that they had a course specifically on Mammals. Of course Montana had no issue logging into her course and getting started. She was eager to learn new facts about the wildcat and the gray wolf.

The courses are video heavy but Montana liked this format. After watching the video for the day typically there were questions that were asked to check comprehension or to give the student a chance to show what they know about the topic. Montana usually watched several videos in one learning sitting, but that is because she was so interesting in the topic. This was an interesting and exciting course to add to Montana’s curriculum studies. She has always loved cats and now has one because her oldest sister who is allergic has moved out. She has a heart for all animals really, and this course has helped her realized that she does want to focus the rest of her science studies on becoming a zoologist. The next course she plans on completing is the unit study on Komodo Dragons and then dabble into the world of insects.

Overall, this is a gentle approach to science. If you favor a relaxed homeschool science approach, you'll want to check out NaturGlo's eScience MathArt & Science Course Bundle from NatureGlo's eScience. Branch Out World: Paddington Bear ~ a TOS review

McKenzie and Micah have been learning and having so much while having fun with the Picture Book Explorer Pack Paddington Bear from Branch Out World. If your family enjoys unit studies then you have got to check out this literature unit study that is based off the book Paddington, by Michael Bond.

For the last few weeks we have been enjoying our virtual tour of London, England and Peru with the study of the classic tale of Paddington Bear. Branch Out World is a British company started by a home educating mom in West Yorkshire. The Paddington Bear unit study is apart of the Picture Book Explorers series.

This is a meaty unit study with nearly 50 printable pages and is written for children ages 5-10. Within the pages you will find opportunity to complete notebooking pages, mini books, coloring pages, math, timelines, and science activities.

The whole study is intended to take five days. Over the course of the study you will learn about
Setting, Words, Pictures, Science, and Math & Crafts. Your child will also discuss and have hands-on learning opportunities about: Migration, Geography, Design and Architecture, Grammar Skills,  Literature,  Critical thinking and more!

McKenzie (8) and Micah (4) have enjoyed reading the Paddington story as well as doing the activities. They both love to paint so I had them paint the flags of Peru and England. We also looked up England and Peru on our globe so they could see first hand where they were located.

Hands down their favorite part was packing a red suitcase just like Paddington’s for a trip. I printed out some articles of clothing from the internet for them to pack in their bag. We travel a lot so they both know about packing and I love how they both thought about what they would bring for the trip.

There are a few activities that we haven’t gotten to because we have been traveling ourselves. However, I made mention that they will be able to make foam and they are both looking forward to it, as well as my big kids because who doesn’t like playing with foam! We will also tie in making strawberry tarts and marmalade within the next few weeks as we study Europe in-depth.

With easy to follow instructions and an included supply list this is my type of Unit Study! We have enjoyed the Paddington story many times over these last few weeks as well as the accompanying activities in this Unit Study from Branch Out World. We are on our 3rd renewal of the library book so we will have to return it soon but not before enjoying the story and activities within this unit study a few more times. Be sure to check out all the products that Branch Out World offers to see if this would be a good fit for your family.
