14:6 - The Way: A Scripture Memory Course on Salvation ~ a TOS review

Disclaimer: I received a Complimentary copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions I have expressed are my own or those of my family and I pray you, the reader, find them helpful on your homeschooling journey. I am disclosing this in accordance with FTC Regulations.
Morning friends! It’s been a week… I am feeling quite frazzled and overwhelmed with all that needed to be accomplished this week. Here it is September 1st (whoa, September already!) and I am not prepared at all. One thing I like to do when I start feeling the stress is to pull back and make it a priority to dive into God’s word more. Memorizing scripture and reading my Bible is essential, not only for me, but for my children as well. These last few weeks I have been digging into the Word with 14:6 - The Way from Scripture Memory Fellowship, as an easy way to memorize God's Word.
14:6 – The Way is a complete 28-week Bible memory course to help you understand the fundamentals of salvation. With 84 verses it helps you to be able to share the Good News of Christ with others. This product comes in two different versions, The King James {KJV} and The English Standard Version {ESV}. We were blessed to receive the {KJV} for our review along with access to the Scripture Memory Fellowships free app called VerseLocker to aid in memorization.
Scripture Memory Fellowship
The 14:6 – The Way book is a 9 ¼ x 5 ½ inch spiral bound book with thick cardstock paper. Inside the book you will find lessons on a topic in question-and-answer format. The seven themes covered through the curriculum include:

Theme 1 ~ Who is God?
Theme 2 ~ What went wrong?
Theme 3 ~ What did God do?
Theme 4 ~ What did Jesus do?
 Theme 5 ~What is salvation?
Theme 6 ~ How do we respond?
Theme 7 ~  What happens next?

Each week three color-coded verses are included each week to memorize along with a thesis statement that tells you what this section is about. You choose how many you will memorize each week and record how well you or your child did for the week. And since we are to be spreading the Word of God, there is a section at the bottom of the page to track when you share the verse at home, at church, and in your community.
I have really enjoyed using this product during my morning Bible time. It has really helped ground me in the busyness of daily life. When using this product, I chose to just memorize one verse each week, in the green boxes. My plan is to make it through the whole 28-week course memorizing all the green boxed verses and then cycle back through and memorize another set of verses in the orange boxes and so forth until all the verses are memorized in the curriculum.
Scripture Memory Fellowship
I think this is an excellent tool to help memorize God’s Word and this is a great resource for children or adults to use to help them dive into the Word! This program is versatile enough for families to use it with multiple ages from elementary to teens. I recommend you checking this Bible curriculum out for yourself and to read what my CrewMates thought of this Scripture memory tool by clicking the banner below to read their thoughts.

Christian Audio Adventures for Children with The Advent ~ a TOS review

Disclaimer: I received a Complimentary copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions I have expressed are my own or those of my family and I pray you, the reader, find them helpful on your homeschooling journey. I am disclosing this in accordance with FTC Regulations.
The Adventum
Morning friends! Hope you’re having a great week. I know I have mentioned before that we love books here at A Stable Beginning, but I have I also told you that we also love listening to audio books at bedtime? For the last several weeks, my two youngest, McKenzie (13) and Micah (8) and I have been listening to The Adventum, Volume 1 just before bedtime.
The Adventum is brought to you from the same studio as the Jonathan Park series and is an entirely new way to hear the word of God. Volume 1 contains a four-CD set that comes in a nice hard plastic case. Inside the case there are protective sleeves for the discs. Volume 1 covers the major stories from Genesis, starting with Creation and ending with Jacob and Esau.

This volume includes the following playlist titles:

 Disc 1
1. It Was Good
2. Paradise Lost
3. First Family
4. Brother’s Keeper
 5. And So On
 Disc 2
6. A New World
7. High Hopes
8. Whispers in the Wind
9. White Lies
10. Decisions, Decisions
 Disc 3
11. I’ve Been Thinking
12. What’s in a Name
13. Three Visitors and a Bargain
14. Fire and Brimstone
15. Heir Apparent
 Disc 4
16. Sacrifice
17. A Bride for Isaac
18. Passages
 19. Stew du Jour
20. Playing Favorites
The Adventum
It is available as a physical CD set or a digital file. We were blessed to receive the physical CD’s to use during this review since both of the kids have CD players in their rooms to listen to their audio stories. The stories range from roughly 3 to 30 minutes in length, but on average you can expect a 10-12 minute story. It’s not just someone reading the Bible word for word, but rather, a dramatization of Biblical stories. However, when the voice of God is used, you can rest assure that it is spoken verbatim from NKJV and NIV Scripture.
The Adventum
We have thoroughly enjoyed The Adventum and I am pretty sure you will too! This is an excellent, high-quality adventure through the Bible. It keep my son’s attention even though he has heard these stories many times over. The whole production from the sound effects, music, and cast or narrators is A-1! You can head over to the site and listen to a sample to hear for yourself.

Currently there are five volumes in total and I already have plans to purchase the other four volumes for Christmas so we can continue listening. Plus right now The Adventum, Volume 1 is at a discounted price, $19.99, normally $39.99, on their website and you can use the advcrew22 for free (US only) shipping when you purchase.  The Adventum

Dynamic Christian Living from Positive Action Bible Curriculum ~ a TOS review

Disclaimer: I received a Complimentary copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions I have expressed are my own or those of my family. I am disclosing this in accordance with FTC Regulations.

Morning friends! Another week has passed and we are closer and closer to the end of our school year. Today happens to be my birthday and I am excited to share with you the Good News found within the Dynamic Christian Living course from Positive Action Bible Curriculum. Positive Action Bible Curriculum
As a Christian parent the greatest thing I can give my children is a firm foundation in faith and a love of Christ. There are so many distractions out in the world and its easy to get distracted. Over the course of our homeschooling years, we have been blessed to use many of the products from Positive Action Bible Curriculum. This course, like their other courses does not disappoint, let me tell you more about it.
If you are new to homeschooling you may be wondering who is Positive Action for Christ? They are a Christian publishing company that started way back in 1969, specializing in educational material for students from Kindergarten to High School. Their “mission is to equip Bible teachers to magnify the majesty of God” by seeking His glory and grace in all things.
Since we have had success with this program before, you can be sure that I jumped at the chance to review the Dynamic Christian Living course, which is recommended for 7th-9th graders, with McKenzie (12) who will be in 7th grade come August when we start our new year.

We received the softbound 7”x 9” Student Manual and 3-ring binder that contains the Teacher’s Manual. Both are also available in digital PDF files if you like that option.
 Student workbook {$19.95} includes:

~ student exercise that challenge the student to explore God’s Word
~ Lesson notes that include fill-in-the-blank questions
~ Engaging design with original black and white artwork
 Teacher’s Manual {$49.95} includes:

~ 35 lessons for each average school year
~Weekly schedule that includes outlines for a three-, four-, or five-day school week
~ Target truths that cover the core learning objectives
~ Teaching strategies include notes on presenting the lesson effectively
~ Scripture memory plan for option memorization
~ Testing and evaluation include weekly quizzes if you want to test. Answer keys are provided
~ Student manual pages that are exact copies of the student pages with answers filled in
The Student Manual is a consumable workbook so each of your students will need their own copy. In addition, they will also need a personal Bible so they can look up the relevant scripture needed to answer the questions. Over the last six weeks McKenzie and I have been plugging away with this course in addition to our current Bible curriculum. We have been following the 3-day schedule and been working in it on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays. In our homeschool Bible is the first subject to be completed. I love how it sets the tone for our day.

During our Bible time, my daughter and I have been plugging through Unit One of this curriculum. There are 35 lessons spread out over 5 units that include study on:

• Unit 1: Birth
 • Unit 2: Growth
 • Unit 3: Breath
 • Unit 4: Communication
 • Unit 5: Behavior
We have just four weeks left of our regular school year before we break for summer. My plan is to finish out Unit One and Lesson 4 next week. We will then take a break for the summer before jumping back into the curriculum in August when our school year begins again. At that time, we will use the program following the 4-day schedule which will work with McKenzie’s gymnastics training schedule.
I really like that this curriculum is teaching McKenzie and I to live out our love for God. When people see us, I want them to see Christ through us. Overall, I am once again super impressed with this Bible curriculum, it has made a fantastic addition to our daily Bible study. If you are looking for a homeschool Bible curriculum for your middle school student, I highly recommend you check out Dynamic Christian Living from Positive Action Bible Curriculum.
Several of my CrewMates were also able to review Exploring God’s Love for Preschoolers and Behold Your God for 9th-11th graders. Be sure to click on the banner below and read the reviews and see for yourself just how dynamic life can be when you put God first! Bible Curriculum for Homeschool

NIrV Adventure Bible for Early Readers from Zondervan ~ a TOS review

Disclaimer: I received a Complimentary copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions I have expressed are my own or those of my family. I am disclosing this in accordance with FTC Regulations.

Morning friends!

Have you seen the new NIrV Adventure Bible for Early Readers, a Bible for kids, from Zondervan? When I think of Bibles I immediately think of Zondervan, who has been my go-to for years. Both of my main Bibles are published by this well-known Christian company as well as the Bibles my children use each day.
I chose to use the NIrV Adventure Bible for Early Readers with my son, Micah, who is 7. Since the Adventure Bible is geared towards kids 6-10 years old he is at a great age for this Bible. Before receiving this Bible Micah used a Zondervan NIV Boys’ Bible in the NIV translation for his daily Bible study. While I do like this Boys’ Bible, he found the NIrV Adventure Bible more appealing as it includes 20 full color pages of Bible fun presented in a safari theme.
The Adventure Bible for Early Readers is an 8 1/2 inches tall by 5 1/2 wide Bible that comes in the New International Reader’s Version (NIrV) that comes in a glossy, soft-covered edition with over 1500 pages. As a complete Bible, it covers all 66 books from Genesis to Revelation and it is meant for readers on a 3rd grade reading level and up. This Bible retails for $22.49.
The NIrV makes a great first kid’s Bible for new readers, readers whose first language is not English, or adults just getting acquainted with the Bible. It is written in an easy-to-read 9-point font at a third grade reading level. It is also accurately aligned with the New International Version (NIV) but uses shorter sentences and easier to understand words.
Inside the covers you will find:
~ 20 full-color pages filled with Bible information presented in a jungle safari theme
~ Introductions for each book
~ Words to treasure and great verses to memorize
~ A dictionary/concordance for looking up unfamiliar words
~ Color maps that show places from the Bible
~ Articles & Illustrations that describe what life was like during ancient times
~ Close up looks at the amazing people of the Bible
~ Interesting facts to help you better understand God’s Word
~ Hands-on activities to apply biblical truths to your daily life
Micah is enjoying using this Bible for his daily Bible time! I love that it is written on his level so that he can dive into God’s Word easier. I know that Micah will be able to use this Bible for many more years to come before we transition back to our Zondervan NIV Boys’ Bible.
As Easter approaches you may be looking for a first Bible for your 6-10 year old. Hands down the NIrV Adventure Bible for Early Readers is an excellent Bible to purchase! But don’t just take my word for it! Check out what 21 of my CrewMates think of this Bible for kids by clicking the banner below.

Indescribable: The Wonder of Creation: 100 More Devotions About God & Science ~ a TOS review

Happy March friends! Today I am excited to share a new devotional with you from Indescribable Kids and Tommy Nelson Books. As part of our morning time together my daughter McKenzie (12) and son, Micah (7), and I have been reading The Wonder of Creation: 100 More Devotions About God and Science which includes short devotionals about the wonder of creation.
Hands down, we love this book! It is the follow up devotional to Indescribable and How Great is our God which we also have in our collection. Like the other two books, this devotional is printed on glossy paper and features detailed hand-drawn pictures. The black and white font is easy to read on the pages and the pop of color draws you into the devotion.
This is a hardcover book that contains 208 pages and was written by Louie Giglio with Tama Fortner and illustrated by Nicola Anderson. Inside you will find 100 devotions and prayers as well as scientific facts. Each devotion is featured on a two-page spread and begins with a scripture reading before you dive into the actual devotion.
Science Topics covered in this devotional include:
• Animals: birds, snakes, fish, and more
• Space: black holes, volcanic moons, gamma rays, and more
• People: anatomy, emotions, communication, and more
• Earth: rainbow rivers, blue lava, glaciers, and more
A short passage gives you all the meat and potatoes of what is being taught. Each page also includes a little spread about “Explore the Wonder” where you can dig in a little more about the topic. I really like that this book includes a nice ribbon to mark your spot each day.

Even though this book is intended for kids aged 6-10, my 12-year-old daughter, McKenzie, enjoyed reading these devotions too. While I read the devotional aloud to my 7-year-old son, Micah, McKenzie wrote the scripture out in her faith planner. Our favorite part of this book is finding out little nuggets of information sprinkled throughout the book.
This is the perfect book to add to your collection if you are looking to add in some STEM reading. With short devotions it would make the perfect book for reading first thing in the morning or at night before bed especially if you have a science loving child in your house. I have already shared about this book with my friends and I am glad I could share a bit with you today.
Make sure to click the banner below to read the thoughts of 22 of my CrewMates. This gem of a book has definitely earned a spot on our bookshelf so be sure to get a copy for yourself.
