TabletClass Math Geometry ~ a TOS review

Disclaimer: I received a Complimentary copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions I have expressed are my own or those of my family and I pray you, the reader, find them helpful on your homeschooling journey. I am disclosing this in accordance with FTC Regulations.

TabletClass Math
Hello there friends! Another week of homeschooling is coming to an end and I have another review for you. Do you struggle to teach your children upper level, high school math? Do you need to make the switch to a new curriculum because your current one is just not working for you? Or are you finding that you and your child need a little bit more help and explanation? Well, today I am pleased to tell you about the Geometry course from TabletClass Math that my 10th grader has been working one.

Math doesn’t have to be hard, but I totally understand when it is. Geometry is my nemesis so I was especially excited when the opportunity came up to review this course taught by the mathematical guru, Mr. John Zimmerman. Mr. Zimmerman is more than a qualified math instructor with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a Master’s in Educational Technology and a desire to help your student be and feel successful in their math education. When he created TabletClass Math his goal was to give 110% to his students to help them achieve everything possible in their math instruction.

TabletClass Math is a self-paced online math curriculum for the upper grades of math, designed for the middle to high school ages as the target group. We received a one-year membership to the Geometry course, however, curriculum is available for the following math courses:

 ~ Math Foundations
~ Pre-Algebra
~ Algebra 1
 ~ Geometry
 ~ Algebra 2
 ~ Pre-Calculus
 ~ Test Prep
The courses are accessed through an online course site called, Teachable. Membership to the course is available through yearly or monthly payments. A monthly subscription is just $25.00 on auto-renewal and can be cancelled at any time. While a full year of access is $150.00, the best value at 50% off the cost. Six month’s access is also available for a $95.00 one-time fee if you need this option. All coursework, lessons, worksheets, quizzes etc are found within the Teachable course site.

My 10th grader, Montana needed just a bit of extra Geometry instruction. Math is not her strongest subject but she is a determined, hard worker. We have used this course as a supplement to her main math curriculum two days a week. We kind of got a late start in diving into the program because she had to have oral surgery for her wisdom teeth and and other stuck tooth. The recovery period for this has set us back on schooling a little bit, but now that she is healing we are jumping back into our learning full force. The beauty of this course is we don’t have to feel like she is behind, just jump in and get to learning where we left off. I will say that having access to the course and the video instruction on topics that she needed a little bit extra instruction on has been great! Hearing and seeing a concept explained a different way is sometimes just the thing to make it stick.

TabletClass Math

This course has been awesome for Montana in doing just that! Giving her the confidence that she can tackle Geometry and be a successful math student. We are looking forward to progressing through the course over the course of the school year. I definitely think you should check out this course on Geometry from TabletClass Math and the other courses as well too! It may just be what your student needs to succeed. But don’t just take my word for it ~ check out what 19 of my CrewMates thought of this course and the other ones being offered by clicking on the banner below!

Mastering Essential Math Skills, Book Two ~ a TOS review

Disclaimer: I received a Complimentary copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions I have expressed are my own or those of my family and I pray you, the reader, find them helpful on your homeschooling journey. I am disclosing this in accordance with FTC Regulations.

  Math Essentials
Morning friends! Whew, it’s been a week to say the least but I am so glad that it is Friday! We don’t have any big plans but to finish preparing for our fast approaching school year. However, today I am excited to bring you another great review of a homeschool math program called Mastering Essential Math Skills Book 2 from Math Essentials.
The Mastering Essential Math Skills book 2 is written by veteran 6th grade math teacher Richard W. Fisher, also known as “America’s Math Teacher” for his dedication of over 31 years of teaching math. He is also the winner of the Intel Innovations in Teaching Award as well as the Glenn W. Hoffmann Exemplary Awards Program.
We received the 158 page paperback workbook that is geared towards middle grades/High School. Each lesson in this program has a corresponding video lesson that’s available on the Math Essentials website. The eight key area topics covered in this homeschooling math program include :

~ Whole Numbers
~ Fractions
~ Decimals
~Percent’s
~Geometry
~Integers
~Charts & Graphs
~Word Problems

There is also a Final Review Section in the back along with the Answer Key, useful math charts, as well as a Glossary of math terms.
Each page is a complete lesson and it is laid out the same way throughout the book. First your student will complete the Speed Drill which tests their knowledge in quick math facts. You choose the number that your child needs to focus on.
  Math Essentials
A Review section, does just that by reviewing previously worked on concepts. I really like this spiral approach. In the middle of the page a Helpful Hints portion gives hints for the next concept that will be taught. The lesson includes ten problems to complete and includes an area to record answers on the right hand side. At the bottom of the page a Problem Solving question is given. It is essentially a word problem for the lesson to provide a different way to state the problem and to get they student thinking.
I used this book with McKenzie, my rising 7th grader. She has been able to use this book three days a week to keep fresh on her math work over our summer break. Once we start school back up in August, she will continue to use this book on the days that she has a double day at gym. I am confident that this workbook can stand in the place of her normal math program on the days she is at the gym all day.
I am excited for McKenzie to continue working through this book to solidfy the math skills in this book. They are essential to success in upper level math. Math Essentials is offering their online program math and algebra for free for 3 months. Check them out and use the code CREW2022 to sign up. And be sure to check out what my CrewMates think of this curriculum as well as the Mastering Essential Math Skills, Pre-Algebra Concepts that was also reviewed by clicking the banner below.

At My Pace Pre-Algebra with High School Math Live ~ a TOS review

Disclaimer: I received a Complimentary copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions I have expressed are my own or those of my family. I am disclosing this in accordance with FTC Regulations.
  High School Math Live
Morning friends! Hope your week is going great! Have you already finished your school year? Or are you in the last few weeks or days? Are you looking at courses for next school year? Have you decided on what you are using for high school math? Teaching high school math intimidates many homeschooling parents but the courses in the At My Pace Courses -Pre-Algebra from High School Math Live can make it a bit easier!

High School Math Live (HSML) offers Live and At My Pace (AMP) courses for students in Pre-Algebra through Calculus I. We received the first semester of the AMP course for Pre-Algebra A (first semester) and we tried it out with McKenzie my rising 7th grader.
The beauty of the At My Pace courses are just that, at your student’s pacing. So if your child has difficulty on a particular topic they can spend as much time as needed to master the concept. Students are enrolled in the AMP course until the final exam is taken or for a period of 12 months from day of purchase. I should note that if your student fails to finish the course in the twelve months allotted, they will receive a grade of incomplete.
If your student needs specific instruction on math topics and concepts you are able to purchase each semester individually or as a pair since the courses are divided into two semesters, AMP course A (first semester) and AMP course B (second semester). However, each semester is sold separately. If you need or want accreditation the courses are accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges. If you have a student athlete, you will be pleased to know that all of the courses from High School Math Live are also approved by NCAA!
Once you enroll, an experienced, credentialed educators teach each of the following At My Pace (AMP) courses including:

 • Pre-Algebra
• Algebra I
• Algebra II
• Pre-Calculus with Trigonometry
• Calculus I

Each AMP courses 35 lessons are taught by pre-recorded video of the teacher teaching the lesson. Videos are about 30-45 minutes in length and can be stopped, paused, and rewound if need be. Suggested homework problems for each lesson, usually the odd numbered problems, are assigned to check for concept mastery. Students can find the solutions to the odd problems in the back of the book so they can check to make sure they have solved the problem correctly. Seventeen assessments and a cumulative final exam is provided for each course. Each course also comes with 2.5 hours of one-on-one tutoring during the course of enrollment.
Using this course with McKenzie has been a good so far. We are taking it very slowly as I don’t want to overload her. We have been working each lesson over the course of two weeks because we have the time during the end of the school year and summer when we are using this program. The format is different from our normal math curriculum, so that has taken a little to get used to for myself and McKenzie. I myself felt overwhelmed during the first few times we accessed the course. It became easier as McKenzie worked through the program. The setup of the course was a familiar setup for McKenzie as she has taken live online courses this year.
At this point we plan to continue on with this homeschool Pre-Algebra curriculum for the fall. Be sure to check out what my CrewMates think of this program as four others have reviewed the Geometry and Pre-Calculus programs by clicking the banner below to read their thoughts.

Homeschool math curriculum with His Vessel Textbooks - Algebra 1 ~ a TOS review

Disclaimer: I received a Complimentary copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions I have expressed are my own or those of my family. I am disclosing this in accordance with FTC Regulations.

Morning friends! We are another week closer to the end of the school year. In fact, today we begin our Spring Break but first I wanted to share with you a new homeschool math curriculum with you that is Biblically based called His Vessel Textbooks – Algebra 1.
Wait…what? Yes, you read that right. A math book that has a Biblical worldview incorporated into it. The author, Mary Carroll, a homeschool mom and math lover, created this homeschool Algebra curriculum for Christians who wanted to teach their children math in the context of Scripture.
His Vessels Textbooks – Algebra 1 is a thick hardcover book with over 500 pages cover to cover and retails for $99.99. With 11 units and 64 lessons this homeschool math curriculum course covers all of the normal Algebra 1 topics necessary to learn. From Interger's to graphing to the Quadratic equation your child will learn the necessary math while also getting a faith lesson as well.
When this curriculum was offered for review I jumped at the chance to use it with Montana, my 9th grader. One because Montana was having trouble understanding how to graph a line and two because I was curious how math could be tied to Scripture.

Within each of the 64 lessons in this course you will find several features that tie in Scripture. These sections include:
A God Moment: These sections are at the beginning of the lesson and contain a short devotional with scripture explaining the math concept from a Biblical view.
Objectives for This Lesson: These are written in an outline format as “I Can” statements so you know what you will be able to do at the finish of the section.

Vocabulary: Helpful terms to know for the lesson.

Explanations and Examples: the meat of the lesson concept is explained and covered in this section

You Try: these are practice problems for you to complete. Only the answers are given to these problems, not the solutions.
Practice Problems: This is your standard page of practice problems. They must be worked out on paper or in a notebook. Only the odd problems have the answers in the back of the book.
Helpful Hints and Make it Clear: These are scattered throughout the lessons and offer clarity on concepts.
Family Activity: Fun activities to get the whole family involved in learning Algebra are included in this section. Activities include eating a pie on Pi Day, completing puzzles, or making math shapes with Playdough and point back to Christ.

Expression Project: These special projects are optional and found at the end of the unit. They vary in project and are meant to challenge the student. Completion of these is optional.
Montana only used this math textbook as a supplement to our regular math program when she needed more understanding of a certain concept. Having access to this homeschool math book is a God send!
Math doesn’t come easy for Montana; she has to work at it. For her, as I stated above, was the graphing of a line concept that was not sticking. The way the material is presented in this book has helped her understand how to graph the line and she is more confident in doing so. I love how each of the concepts are explained in an easy-to-understand way. If you need a little extra help you can also watch video lessons found on YouTube.
I know that we will continue to reference this math textbook during the rest of the year and it will be a valuable resource for us as my two younger children come through high school math. I am excited to say that Mrs. Carroll is currently working on a Geometry book that will be released in the fall! I definitely have this book on my radar because anything that can make Geometry easier to understand is worth the price in gold to me. She also plans to release Algebra 2, Pre-Algebra, and elementary math series in the future.
Hands-down, I think you should get your hands on a copy of this Algebra book and check it out for yourself. Don’t just take my word for it though, seven of my CrewMates also had the chance to review this homeschool algebra 1 book. Click on the banner below and read their thoughts as well.

Using Teaching Textbooks with multiple ages ~ a TOS review

Teaching Textbooks Reviews

Hi there! As we wrap up our school year and start planning for next year’s courses, have you thought about what curriculum you will be using for math? Earlier this year we were given the opportunity to try out the new app-based math program from Teaching Textbooks. This new version of their Teaching Textbooks Math 4.0 has allowed us to fill in gaps and get ahead in our homeschool math learning.

The folks at Teaching Textbooks (aka TT) sent us access to their Math 6, Pre-Algebra, and Pre-Calculus programs for this review. As I stated above, TT is an app-based subscription that is accessible on computers, tablets, and smartphones. The complete program is designed for homeschooling families with children working at grade 3-Pre-Calculus level. Pricing is just right for small to large families so you are not having to shell out hundreds of dollars for homeschool math curriculum. Families with 4-8 students pay a special discounted price of $199.08 a year for up to 8 students.

Getting set up to start the program was easy. I simply downloaded each of the apps from the app store onto the girls iPads mini’s and followed the steps to set up. Each of the girls has access to their own login and password for their corresponding level. My girls liked that they were able to personalize their courses with stickers and backgrounds. An eBook for the entire course is available to view for each lesson. My girls have not found it necessary to use the eBook as the lessons work just fine for them to understand the concepts. There is also an option to purchase a printed eBook if needed/wanted.

I had access to my very own parent portal to help me keep track of everything. This parent portal allows me to monitor the girls work and to see where they had problems, if any. In this parent portal there is also the grade book that logs all the work the student completes. The answer keys are also found on the parent portal.

We are not strangers to the TT courses. My oldest Marie used their Geometry and Pre-Calculus book/CD based programs in high school. This new app-based program is a huge lifesaver for the portability of the product! Typically, from Jan-May we travel for the girl’s competitive gymnastics, this year things have been different because of the pandemic. Nonetheless, the ability for the girls to take the iPad to the gym on double training days has been a huge blessing. No more lugging around their textbooks because everything is compacted right into the tablet.

McKenzie has been using and excelling in the Math 6 program while Montana is using and gaining confidence in the Pre-Algebra curriculum. Both girls use the program as a supplement to our current standard math. McKenzie is working ahead of grade level while Montana is working at grade level. Mikayla, my Senior, tried the Pre-Calculus program for a few weeks. We quickly found that the format just didn’t work for her learning style.

Montana and McKenzie will use the program 2-3 days a week on Wednesday, Friday, and some Saturdays. McKenzie normally completes two lessons because she enjoys math while Montana is only required to do the one lesson. I really like that I was able to pack our school iPad for McKenzie to take on Friday for her double training day. During the 2- hour school break she was able to complete her two math lessons. She would then send me a quick text message and I would log into the parent portal to check her grade.

Overall, I think this is a great program for homeschool math. We have used it as a supplement to our current and long-standing math and will continue to do so for the rest of our subscription. I especially enjoy how McKenzie is able to work a grade level ahead and learn new math concepts and Montana can solidify concepts that she needs more time with. This is a win-win in my book! Thirty of my CrewMates have also used various levels of the Teaching Textbook curriculum. Be sure to click on the banner below to read their thoughts!
